What will you experience at a Lamb of God casual/contemporary worship service?
Like the 8:30 AM service the 11:00 AM casual/contemporary service is devoted to the worship of the One true God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Only the style of worship is different. The emphasis, is on the grace and love of God in Christ Jesus to save sinners like us.
Our 11:00 AM worship is less traditional in style. The worship leader does not wear a robe, or chant ancient liturgies. We make use of Christian music some of which is very recent and popular. Only songs with lyrics that are Biblically sound are used. Most of the music and accompaniment is generated through computers and DVD player. Live vocalists, rather than organist, lead the signing. On occasion the MIDI system is used. Portions of the service are projected on a a large 10' by 10' foot screen by an LCD projector.
Even though the style is more casual and contemporary, it is still structured. The readings and the sermon message are the same. Most of the elements of worship endeared by Lutheran Christians are still present, but are experienced in a more casual rather than formal way. The more casual style and is very similar to the pattern of worship in the 2nd Century AD where Christians gathered for praise, for forgiveness, for the word, and for thanksgiving and blessing.
Even though the styles of worship are different, the ultimate goals remain the same-- to provide people meaningful worship opportunities centered on Christ and the Gospel, and a place for people to grow in their faith and understanding of God.
